This course, which is only offered in Arabic, examines a variety of Arabic media outlets, including but not limited to Arabic newspapers, magazines, news broadcasts, comments, interviews, and other television and radio shows.
Students improve their verbal and writing communication skills by expressing their views on social, political, and cultural topics that affect Jordanian society today. Through exposure to actual media content, students are challenged with advanced reading and listening skills.

This course provides a thorough overview of the Arab world’s peoples, cultures, and traditions, as well as the larger Middle East. The rich cultural and sociopolitical life of modern Jordan is investigated, giving students a framework in which to study Arabic. Throughout the course, students are forced to evaluate their ideas and assumptions about the Middle East’s history, cultures, traditions, religions, and politics. Among the subjects discussed are the diverse groups that inhabit the region, their languages/dialects, religious affiliations, economics, and other cultural and socioeconomic aspects.

This course illuminates opposing viewpoints by giving a thorough assessment of the region’s historical past and its impact on present events. The events that sparked the Arab Spring are examined, as well as the historical reasons why the Arab Spring expanded to some countries but not others.
This course adds to the Modern Standard Arabic series by placing the language in its natural setting and teaching students how to communicate in MSA like native speakers. Students study thematic information in realistic circumstances through a range of applications such as formal debate, speaking, presentation, and literature. According to their future academic and professional aspirations, students choose one of the four language skills to focus on: reading, writing, listening, or speaking.
Students read Arabic short tales, chosen readings, and novels about culture, politics, religion, and society. The length of the texts varies slightly depending on the language skills of the students.
